Company Name: ENCOUNTER BOOKS
Description: Company Description:
Encounter Books is an activity of Encounter for Culture and Education, a tax-exempt, non-profit corporation dedicated to strengthening the marketplace of ideas and engaging in educational activities to help preserve democratic culture.

Edited by Roger Kimball, Encounter Books continues to advance its love of liberty and the cultural achievements of the West against a rising tide of collectivist sentiment and the soft totalitarianism of intellectual conformity. Our authors include Victor Davis Hanson, Thomas Sowell, Greg Lukianoff, and Peter Wood.

We publish about 30 non-fiction titles each year, in trade cloth, trade paper, and e-book formats. The internship offers candidates an opportunity to get involved in publishing and familiarize themselves with all aspects of the trade. Job Description:
Interns will focus on either marketing or production activities. In your cover letter, please indicate your area(s) of interest.

Marketing interns work closely with our marketing and publicity team and assist with marketing campaigns, media coverage, promotional materials, events, and our online presence via our website and social media.

Production interns work closely with our production team, which coordinates with our authors, designers, editors, printers, and distributor to guide books and e-books from manuscript to finished product.

Ideal candidates will have confident written and oral communication skills, meticulous editorial and organizational abilities, and, of course, a strong interest in book publishing.

We consider applications on a rolling basis. Start/end dates are flexible, though we do ask for a minimum three-month commitment. We are currently seeking interns for the Spring of 2022, roughly January through May for in-person work in our Manhattan office. Please include your desired start date and availability in your cover letter. This internship is unpaid.
