Title: Publishing Assistant, James Patterson Books
Description: The Publishing Assistant provides administrative & project support for the James Patterson publishing team.

The position will work closely with the Publicist to create high-impact marketing and publicity campaigns for James Patterson, the most popular storyteller of our time. The assistant will also support the managers on James Patterson’s, marketing, sales and pro-reading philanthropic initiatives, and will support the author himself. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, strong organizational skills, a passion for books, a love of popular culture, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with other smart, creative professionals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with paid advertising and social media marketing
Assist with creation and deployment of Patterson newsletters
Assist with high profile author appearances and publicity campaigns
Create and coordinate promotional materials, such as press releases and press kits
Assist with award submissions and manages database for tracking awards
Assist with coordinating trade show and conference presence, author appearances and giveaways
Provide ongoing administrative support including mailing books, coding invoices, tracking budgets, making travel arrangements and scheduling meetings
Coordinate book giveaways and reader activities across a variety of digital platforms
Execute regular data review and analysis for digital campaign and website performance
Requirements: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Marketing/publicity/publishing internship or equivalent work experience
Excellent organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet quick deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills, & ability to multi-task successfully
Superb verbal and written communication skills, internet savvy, and knowledge of the media
Interest in and enthusiasm for book publishing, marketing and publicity
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge of social media and Cision Media database a plus

The compensation for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
